LEICESTER boss Simon Stead is backing their new signings to make an instant impact as they host Swindon on Monday (7.30).
Big name Kenneth Bjerre and Aussie racer Todd Kurtz come into the Watling JCB Lions side to make their debuts against the Premiership champions.
It will be a tricky test for Stead’s side against his former club, who have opened their title defence with two straight wins.
But Stead believes the arrival of two new faces to stem their early season injury crisis can provide a boost which shows on the track.
“We’ve brought them in to make an impact straight away, and hopefully they can do that in a tough meeting against Swindon on Monday,” Stead said.
“That’s why they’re here, and we’ve got a long season ahead so the purpose is to get some stability rather than relying on guests.
“Kenneth is a proven heat-leader in the top flight and should be an excellent signing, so we’re expecting him to do a good job.
“Todd is starting off on Monday at reserve where we know he can perform, so we’re feeling positive.
“It’s a shame Michael Palm Toft was the casualty, but that’s just the way things to sometimes and we wish him all the best.
“It won’t be an easy start for our new-look team as Swindon have started well, but it’s down to us to perform well enough to get the three points.”
The team changes mean Kyle Newman moves into the main body of the Leicester team, with Todd Kurtz lining up in the No.7 spot.
Swindon are without David Bellego due to a family bereavement, but are otherwise at full strength.
